Liberty - Fair Isle Attempt

Hey! I just made my first Fair Aisle and Steek attempt in the same projec t oh yeah and reading a chart. Not at hard as I thought. How come I keep stressing myself out with the instructions instead of just trusting the patterns? I seem to have knitting trust issues. Any old way - because I'm not comfortable reading charts - I just wrote down the numbers for each row. Sounds tedious? It was but you know what - it made me have an appreciation for someone who creates the pattern. That is a feat in and of itself! So far I have about 12 rows done and there are 70 rows for this pattern. It's not hard at all - just keeping the yarn from tangling is my only issue. This pattern is found in the Mason Dixon second book.

Oh yeah - Fair Isle is not hard when you only do two colors. I will attempt to do the Dragon in the book Scarf Style.. But the Dragon Scarf is one of those - I will work on it after I clear up some of these other projects that have been sitting around.

So we are out eating at a Chinese Restaurant and ChickenusWingus says - I need some money. So Mr.Floozy hands him a pepper and says eat it and I'll give you $10. This nut pops it in his mouth and starts chewing with his little chest puffed up and says it's not hot cheerfully. I looked at him and said are you crazy? Anyway about 30 seconds later this was the look on his face.

Hey yall Im still working on the Mitered Blanket. I have learned how that mattress stitch is the best way to seam all of the wonderfull squares. That part is tedious but when I saw the blanket form I got a warm fuzzy. I am now going to work The outer squares of the blanket and then do a five stich i-cord for the border. Anybody wanna put the backing on for me? I refuse to tie up and or weave in all those ends!

Almost done!

Since I couldn't help but start another project, it's only fair that I show you my progress. This has to be one of the more simple patterns that I've done. I love the way that the yarn feels. I'm a cotton ease floozy what can I say! Definately the best yarn for making baby blankets. I promise to go back to my mitered blanket and the cable blanket as soon as I finish this one. Did I mention that I do not know how to crochet the pieces of this blanket together! Ha! I will be taking this over to Article Pract in Oakland for some help. I'm currently on the fourth and last piece to this blanket. I wanted to try it in a smaller size to make sure i would make the larger one. Anyone who needs some mindless knitting - this is definately the pattern for that - it's all garter stitch!

I just couldn't help it!

I couldn't help it! I started the blanket last night when I caught a bit of insomnia. It's called the Knitted Garter Stitch Blanket in Sheeps Down by Elizabeth Zimmerman - but can be seen here more recently knit by BrooklynTweed. What can I say - the bubble gum pink cables had me bored. I will get back to it - but just the sheer joy of knitting without counting almost sent me over the edge. I will get back to the pink cables this weekend - but I needed a small break. Here is the first section that I did last night. I'm using cotton ease in Lime doubled to make this blanket. I'm a fan of it's squooshiness and ease of use for parents.

Itching again...

Ok - I have the itch to start yet another new project. Brooklyn Tweed has this Big Squishy Lovefest on his site. It looks oh so fun to work. But goodness - I have not finished the Cabled Comfort Throw. Lucky for me it's not in the budget right now for another set of needles. Somebody hold me back! I really wanna cast on this one in some lime green cotton ease that Number 1 son bought for me last week. I'm gonna be patient though and wait to finish the Cabled Comfort Throw. It's gonna be tough. I even thought - hmm... if I run a life line through it - I can come back to it. I know I know....Finish the pink one first. *sigh* who asked y'all!

Progress!

Sometimes it just doesnt feel like you're making any progress and then you look down and see wow! I did more than I thought I did. This is called the Cabled Comfort Throw. It was supposed to be done on size 13 needles with chunky yarn You're supposed to make five panels and sew them togeter. I have modified the pattern to use a size 7 needle, I'm doing 10 panels all at once to avoid the seeming. I am also using Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Berry to make this blanket. So far I have used three skeins. I will probably end up using about seven or eight skeins to make a good sized lap blanket.
