It's Over?

So the other night I decided to have a snack of of my favorite crackers and tuna fish. Mr. Knitfloozy was eating his snack of ice cream and chocolate syrup. I was jealous cos - well I wanted some - but cant have any - tell y'all about it another day. I digress. Anyway - he made a profound but simple statement. " I hate when it's over." I looked at him and said "You hate when what's over?" He responded, "Dessert - I hate when I get to the end because it's over." I'm looking at him like he's crazy and looked down at my mitered squares and thought hmmm that is why knitters (ok just me) have so many unfinished objects. We don't wanna get to the end of the project we are working on because we don't want it be over. Could that be the root of starteritis? Could be. If you figure it out before I do - let me know. Here is my progress so far on the mitered blanket for the newest member of our family.

So far I have four blocks of four completed. I think there will be about 12 or so blocks before I create the border. I will be using the applied i-cord border in bllack to finish it off. It looks easy so we shall see. I've used about two skeins of each color so far. What are y'all working on?

Mitered Blanket...

Hey Y'all! I have a new cousin! I was so exited at the news of his arrival - I thought hmm...I can try out the pattern for the mitered banket that Kay from the Mason Dixon made. I'm liking the no sew method because the thought of having to actually crochet, mattress stitch or even sew these things together was daunting. Oh by the way - did I mention I don't know how to crochet. Tee hee! So yeah I'm gonna have to figure out how crochet all of these square together. It shouldn't be hard right? I'm one of those knitter who will try something at least once or twice or three times....which brings me to the demise of the Curlicue Coverlet.

I have tried making this one about four times. Even used different colors. But I guess I'm not ready to work on this one yet. Not one to throw away yarn - I started making a baby blanket version of the Cabled Comfort Throw - does this make it my first "green" project?

So to make it a little more interesting - I'm using size seven needles and making 10 cables instead of seven. Why bother making it like the pattern calls for. It's a really easy pattern to memorize and is just enough to keep me busy on the train. I'm not sure many skeins of cotton ease that it will take - so far it's only been one skein of Lion Brand cotton ease. I like it so far. I may even make a big one like the pattern says - but I don't really like big needles - they make my hands hurts. I will see - but I gotta finish this one first.

Kittens

Did I tell y'all about Mr. Knitfloozy's penchant for strays? Prolly not because I didn't want to admit that I am now the crazy cat lady down the street with five cats. They were so cute and little and just five little kittens right? He's amazing - he potty trained them with minimal accidents. They grew and became well teenage cats. Nothing new - animals grown over time. Well there is one thing he forgot to do. Spay/Nueter the animals. We now have one of them giving birth. We know who the culprit is. But more importantly instead of five - we now have 10. What the heck am I supposed to do with 10 cats? I'm gonna kill him! Oh - and the kittens don't know it - but they are being born on some of the first projects I made.

Stash Definition

Stash (n): A knitter's supply of yarn, conveniently prepurchased and placed in the home of the knitter. Oddly, many knitters do not knit from their stash but continue to purchase as they go, despite the presence of what is essentially a personalized yarn shop where they don't have to pay. This phenomenon has led researchers (OK: me) to believe that stashes exist not just for the purposes of knitting but for inspiration. After all, painters have lots of paint.
